As Term 1 wraps up, we would like to wish all our families a safe and happy Easter break.

To celebrate the end of the term, we have got a very Fun Friday planned.

Students can look forward to hot cross buns for morning tea, kindly donated by Banjo's and juice provided by Juicy Isle.

An Easter egg hunt for all year levels has been organised by our marvellous school association members. We are very grateful for all the effort they have put in with organising the Easter raffle and Easter hunt.

To top of the day with a splash of colour we have our ever popular Colour Run! All families are welcome to come watch.

Thank you for a great term, and we look forward to seeing everyone back in Term 2 on Monday 28th April, rested and ready to learn.

The children in Prep have been busy learning new routines and exploring their new environment. They have embraced challenges that new learning has presented and shown courage and determination. One of the main focuses of our term has been the implementation of our structured literacy program, UFLI, endorsed by the Department of Education, Children and Young People (DECYP), across all Tasmanian schools. This program is designed to support the children as they learn to read. It relies on the students knowing routines so that they are consistent and predictable each day, allowing them to focus on learning and not what comes next. The children have worked hard to understand these routines and are now concentrating on learning their letters and sounds.  Well done, Prep!

A colourful and creative Term 1!

What a busy and exciting Term 1 we have had in 3/4 Wood! Students have been learning all about Pablo Picasso and his unique Cubist style. Cubism is a creative form of art that does not always resemble real life. Picasso often used bold, unnatural colors in his portraits, such as blue skin and green hair. Inspired by his work, students created their own imaginative Cubist artwork, experimenting with shapes and colors.

Our colour run is tomorrow!!

Students are to wear a white top on the day. We have been advised not to wear white shoes as the colour may not come out. Students may bring a towel or a change of clothes.

We hope to see you there!

Validation forms and permissions have been sent home with students. Parents/guardians are asked to make any amendments, mark the permissions yes or no, sign and return the forms back to the office or class teacher as soon as possible. It is important we have up to date information for each student, especially in relation to emergency contacts. Parent/guardian information is listed on the forms but other emergency contacts are required to be added each year.

The completion of the Validation form is a mandatory requirement by the Department for Education, Children, and Young People and must be done on an annual basis.  If validation forms are not returned, students may miss out on participating in school excursions.

We understand that the forms can be time consuming, and we appreciate your efforts to return them ASAP.

If your child has a medical condition, it is important that we have all relevant information. This includes 2025 Authorisation for Administration of Student Medication forms, Medical Action Plans and/or Student Medical Condition Plans before the start of the school year.

Authorisation for Administration of Student Medication forms need to be filled out for both prescription and non-prescription medications. You can find blank forms attached below or request them from the school office. Form A is for non-prescription medicine and can be filled in by a parent. Form B is for prescription medicine and needs a GP or pharmacist input. Students needing short-term medication like antibiotics or Panadol must submit these forms before staff can administer them.

All medical forms must be updated yearly and signed by the child’s healthcare provider. If the current forms are less than two years old, a letter from your GP can confirm their validity.

The Student Assistance Scheme (STAS) provides assistance for eligible families by waiving the cost of school levies. All families holding a current Centrelink Health Care Card, Centrelink Low Income Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card are eligible for STAS.

Further information on STAS can be found on the Department of Education internet at: https://www.education.tas.gov.au/parents-carers/parent-fact-sheets/fees-levies/.

The online form can be found at: https://stasonlinesubmission.education.tas.gov.au/ .

Parents who currently receive STAS will not need to provide any additional information and will not need to reapply. You cannot apply online or add additional students in the online application form if you are already receiving STAS. If you wish to add a newly enrolled child to your existing STAS file, please email the details to stas@decyp.tas.gov.au.

Questions about STAS can be forwarded to the Department’s Financial Services Unit at stas@decyp.tas.gov.au or by calling 1800 827 055.

2025 Levies will be posted out soon. The cost of this year's levy is $135. This covers all stationery, excursions and activities for the year and can be paid via BPay or EFTPOS.

Payment is not required until the invoice is received.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the office on 6244 1747, via email at warrane.primary@decyp.tas.gov.au or by coming in between 8:30am and 3:15pm.

We welcome volunteers at Warrane Primary School. As you would know from the past, volunteers require a Working with Vulnerable People check to be able to come onsite to help with events and excursions.

There is now an additional requirement that all volunteers have completed the mandatory safeguarding training module. The certificate must be provided to our office staff before you are able to volunteer.

A reminder that hats are required for Term 1. Please ensure that your child has a sun-safe hat to wear.  Hats can be purchased at the office for $6.  No caps please.

Please ensure your child's hat is clearly marked.  In the event students don’t have a hat they will be asked to sit in the shaded area.

Reminder that our breakfast club is open from our school hall Monday to Friday from 8:30am till 8:50am.

All students are welcome.

A reminder that families are required to use the larger family carpark for school drop off and pick up.

The smaller carpark near the early years classes is for staff and service vehicles only. It does not have enough parking for families and the visibility of the surrounding area and access in and out during busy times creates an added safety risk to students.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation with this.

We have students who are allergic to nuts and eggs. As this allergic reaction can be life threatening, the school asks that these products are not brought to school in children’s lunch boxes or for class celebrations.

Items not to be brought to school include but are not limited to - all nut products, peanut butter, Nutella, peanut oil in margarines and all egg products.

It is important that all classes observe this nut and egg aware policy due to the danger of an allergic child coming into contact with residue left by other classes. The parents/carers and staff appreciate your co-operation in this serious matter.
