Hello Warrane Families!
There's a real buzz of excitement around the school today as we get ready for this evening’s Halloween Disco! Students are welcome to come dressed in their spooky best or simply in casual clothes—whatever they feel comfortable in. Entry is just a gold coin donation, and there’ll be some sweet treats available at no cost to families.
A big shoutout to our amazing Parents and Friends Association, along with Leissa, our School Business Manager, for organising this fantastic event. So much planning and effort goes into making events like this happen, and we’re incredibly grateful for their dedication.
The disco is more than just a fun night out—it’s a wonderful opportunity to bring our school community together and strengthen our students’ sense of belonging. We can't wait to see everyone dancing, laughing, and enjoying the festivities!
Water Safety & Awareness Lessons
Our Early Childhood classes kicked off the term with Water Safety and Awareness sessions. These lessons are especially important here in Tasmania, with our beautiful but often unpredictable coastlines, rivers, and lakes. We're proud to equip our young learners with these essential life skills early on.
PAT Assessments Underway
This week, students across the school have begun their Progressive Achievement Tests (PAT) in Reading and Mathematics. These assessments help our teachers understand what each student already knows and where their learning should head next. It’s a valuable tool that supports personalised learning for every child.
Wishing everyone a safe and spook-tacular evening at the disco!
Warm regards,
Sarah Hoban
Warrane Primary School
I acknowledge and pay respect to the Tasmanian Aboriginal Community as the traditional and original owners of lutruwita/trowunna (Tasmania) and as the enduring custodians of the lands, seas, air and waterways. I pay respect to Elders past and present.

We would like to extend a warm welcome to all Pre-Kinder families.
These sessions are for children who:
- are born in 2021 and will be turning 4 this year
- live in the area and will be attending Kindergarten at Warrane Primary in 2026
Time: 9:00am -10:00am
When: Thursday mornings in the Kindergarten classroom.
These fun, play-based sessions help your child become familiar with the school, meet new friends, and build confidence for starting Kindergarten next year.
Parents and carers must stay to supervise their child during each session.
Kind regards,
Mrs Reinbach
Reminder: Hats Required in Term 4
As we head into Term 4, please be reminded that all students must wear a hat when outside during school hours. This is part of our SunSmart policy to ensure students are protected from harmful UV exposure.
No Hat, Shaded Play:
Students who do not have a hat will be required to stay under cover during outdoor activities, including recess and lunch.
School hats are available for purchase at the office. Please ensure your child brings a clearly labelled hat to school each day.
Thank you for your support in keeping our students safe and sun-smart!
Important Reminder for Families
Please note that this Thursday is a public holiday, and Friday is a student-free day.
There will be no classes on either day, so we encourage families to plan accordingly.
We look forward to welcoming students back on Monday!
Have a lovely long weekend!
Earlier this term, our Year 5/6 students wrote persuasive letters as part of our writing inquiry, choosing issues they cared about within our school community.
Darcey wrote a letter to Simon, our librarian, requesting more Diary of a Wimpy Kid books for the library — and today, he was thrilled to find a brand-new full set on the shelves!
A huge thank you to Simon for supporting our students’ voices and showing the true power of persuasive writing.
(And… some other students who made special book requests might be in for a surprise soon!)
Grade 3/4 Wood has had a fantastic start to Term 4! Students enjoyed a visit from MAST (Marine and Safety Tasmania) and took part in their school boating safety program, learning all about water safety and the importance of wearing life jackets.

Back in the classroom, we’ve hit the ground running with our routines and have jumped straight into procedure writing. This week, students had fun following a procedure to make playdough, then used it to write and follow each other’s instructions on how to make something. There were lots of laughs as they compared how closely their creations matched!

It’s hard to believe we’ve already reached Term 4! Our Prep students have made a fantastic start, diving straight into the Swimming and Water Safety program. The joy on their faces and the excitement in the pool have made for a week full of wonderful memories.
Swimming and water safety are essential life skills, and it’s been heartwarming to see our students grow in confidence around water in such a short time. Well done, Preps – you’ve made a splash in more ways than one!
A big thank you to the families who came along to support and cheer from the sidelines. Your presence means so much to the children and helps make these experiences even more special.
Back in the classroom, our students have returned refreshed and ready to learn. Their enthusiasm is shining through as they share ideas, engage in discussions, and listen thoughtfully to their peers.
We’re looking forward to a vibrant and memorable term ahead, filled with learning, laughter, and lasting moments as we wrap up a wonderful year.

The Student Assistance Scheme (STAS) provides assistance for eligible families by waiving the cost of school levies. All families holding a current Centrelink Health Care Card, Centrelink Low Income Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card are eligible for STAS.
Further information on STAS can be found on the Department of Education internet at: https://www.education.tas.gov.au/parents-carers/parent-fact-sheets/fees-levies/.
The online form can be found at: https://stasonlinesubmission.education.tas.gov.au/ .
Parents who currently receive STAS will not need to provide any additional information and will not need to reapply. You cannot apply online or add additional students in the online application form if you are already receiving STAS. If you wish to add a newly enrolled child to your existing STAS file, please email the details to stas@decyp.tas.gov.au.
Questions about STAS can be forwarded to the Department’s Financial Services Unit at stas@decyp.tas.gov.au or by calling 1800 827 055.
2025 Levies have been posted to families. The cost of this years levies are $135. This covers all stationery, excursions, and activities for the year and can be paid via BPay or EFTPOS.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the office on 6244 1747, via email at warrane.primary@decyp.tas.gov.au, or by coming in between 8:30am and 3:15pm.
We welcome volunteers at Warrane Primary School. As you would know from the past, volunteers require a Working with Vulnerable People check to be able to come onsite to help with events and excursions.
Registration to work with vulnerable people (cbos.tas.gov.au)
There is now an additional requirement that all volunteers have completed the mandatory safeguarding training module. The certificate must be provided to our office staff before you are able to volunteer.

Authorisation for Administration of Student Medication forms need to be filled out for both prescription and non-prescription medications. You can find blank forms attached below or request them from the school office. Form A is for non-prescription medicine and can be filled in by a parent. Form B is for prescription medicine and needs a GP or pharmacist input. Students needing short-term medication like antibiotics or Panadol must submit these forms before staff can administer them.
All medical forms must be updated yearly and signed by the child’s healthcare provider. If the current forms are less than two years old, a letter from your GP can confirm their validity.

We have students who are allergic to nuts and eggs. As this allergic reaction can be life threatening, the school asks that these products are not brought to school in children’s lunch boxes or for class celebrations.
Items not to be brought to school include but are not limited to - all nut products, peanut butter, Nutella, peanut oil in margarines and all egg products.
It is important that all classes observe this nut and egg aware policy due to the danger of an allergic child coming into contact with residue left by other classes. The parents/carers and staff appreciate your co-operation in this serious matter.

All students are welcome.
A reminder that families are required to use the larger family carpark for school drop off and pick up.
The smaller carpark near the early years classes is for staff and service vehicles only. It does not have enough parking for families and the visibility of the surrounding area and access in and out during busy times creates an added safety risk to students.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation with this.
